How the work grew

Every project John has built at work since July 2024, grown into one tree: 35 projects, 21 repositories and 4,223 commits. The seed is the first tool. The tip is today.

Height is time, squeezed so the busy months stay readable. Each large node is a project, on the limb of its work area, at the date it started. Smaller nodes are merged branches, feature commits and decision records from each project's repository, and rings are the apps' minor and major releases.

  • 17 projects never had git. Their dates come from file modified times or project notes, so they are approximate.
  • The Dock Door Optimizer and the first Kaizen entry are dated by month or year only. Both sit on 1 July 2024.
  • Beacon and Meridian are thinned to keep the tree readable: an even sample of their merged branches, their minor and major releases, and none of their decision records. Their own trees show everything.
  • Feature commits are picked by their message, and large repositories are sampled, so a project's branch count here is not its full history.
  • Customers, people and figures are left out. Sign-in and access-control items keep their date but their wording is withheld.
  • Some of John's personal projects are left out.
