Beacon how-to · October 2026
New this week: Oct 13, 2026
Two ways to plan work around the hours and line time you have: set today's pull-forward target by hours, or fill the remaining week with one PO.
- v2.150.0
1. Patch notes v2.150.0 Oct 13, 2026
- Checkpoint Live now works out pull-forward target units from the hours you plan to run and the standard rate.
- Labor Planner can fill the rest of a PO across the remaining weekdays on the same line.
2. Pull forward by hours
Checkpoint Live · Line Captain and up
Use this when you want to bring later work onto today's plan. Enter the hours you expect to run; Beacon calculates a target from the standard rate.
- Open the line console and choose Pull forward.
- Pick a block on the same line. It can be later this week or unfinished work from an earlier day.
- The Hours to run today box starts with the time left in the shift, rounded down to the nearest quarter hour. Type the hours you will run, such as 2, 1.5 or 0.25. The maximum is 12 hours.
- Check the target Beacon calculates. For example, 2 hours at a standard rate of 106 per hour gives 212 Displays: Target: 212 Displays by end of day · 106/hr standard.
- Choose Pull 212 onto today. Record production against it as usual.
Target: 212 Displays by end of day · 106/hr standard
What to expect
- The target never exceeds what was planned for that day or what remains on the order. If capped, Beacon says
Capped at N — all that is planned Tue
orCapped at N — all the order has left
. - After the shift window ends, the hours box starts empty. Type your hours anyway.
- For a SKU without a standard rate, Beacon asks for units as before.
- The rest of the block stays on its original day.
- If the line runs below standard, the result shows short against the target. That is the point of using the standard-rate target.
3. Fill a week on this line
Labor Planner · Planners
Use this to spread one large PO across the remaining days of the week on a single line.
- Plan the large PO block on Monday as usual.
- Click the block to open its panel.
- Choose Fill week on this line, next to Roll balance to next day. Beacon places the remaining PO on Tuesday, Wednesday and later weekdays on the same line. It fills each day to its 7.5-hour window after existing blocks and the changeover gap.
- Read the toast to see where the PO went. For example:
Planned 2,708 of PO 1097484 on 1A: Tue 791, Wed 806, Thu 806, Fri 305.
- Check the blocks, then choose Save.
| Line | Mon | Tue | Wed | Thu | Fri |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1A | 800 (yours) | 791 | 806 | 806 | 305 (filled) |
What to expect
- Full days are skipped. Past days and posted days are never changed.
- Beacon respects the stock cap, as it does for the order tray.
- It never plans into next week. Any leftover is listed. On the last block, use Roll balance to next day to carry it into next week; Beacon asks first.
- Nothing is saved until you choose Save. To undo before saving, do not save or delete the added blocks.
- Roll balance to next day remains available for planning one day at a time.
